Sluggish growth in math scores for U.S. students began long before the pandemic, but the problem has snowballed into an education crisis. Meanwhile, calculus has emerged as a critical gatekeeper in selective college admissions, with 75% of admissions officers citing AP Calculus as carrying significant weight in their decisions. This emphasis comes despite only half of American high schools offering calculus courses. During this Next Office Hour with Shalinee Sharma, author of "Math Mind: The Simple Path to Learning and Loving Math," we'll explore practical frameworks for evaluating and rebuilding mathematical pathways from admissions through career readiness.
