Curriculum
At NMH, we’re proud of our innovative, distinctive approach to learning, through a mission-driven program that empowers you to act with humanity and purpose so you can make positive social change. You’ll develop an understanding of multiple cultures, living and learning alongside students from around the world. And you’ll be challenged in the classroom to give your best effort, as you develop and practice values of integrity, empathy, and a concern for social justice.
Programming
Many programs are available for students to dive deep into things they are interested in, there are service learning programs, travel programs, as well as postgraduate programs.
Activity/Sports Requirements
At NMH, every afternoon you'll have the opportunity to transfer your dedication and determination from the classroom to the sports of your choice, along the way learning valuable lessons about sportsmanship and leadership that you can apply to other areas of life, at NMH and beyond. We offer one of the broadest high school athletics programs in the country, with 67 interscholastic teams, 19 varsity sports, and extensive outdoor and dance programs. Our teams regularly win championships, and many of our graduates go on to play in NCAA collegiate athletics.
Dress Code
We do not have a formal dress code, but rather dress guidelines. That said, there are about a dozen special events during the year when students wear coats and ties or dresses.
Seated Meals
No seated meals
Study Hall
Sunday through Thursday, 8-10pm.
Saturday Programming
On weekends, you can take a shuttle to nearby towns to catch a movie, go shopping, or check out the coffee shops and restaurants. There also are occasional trips to cities like New York and Boston for museums, performances, and a slice of city life. On campus, weekend nights mean movies, dances, concerts, theatrical and dance performances, festivals, and other fun. Dorms and student organizations host special events like International Carnival, Spirit Week, Dwight Night, and other activities. Our Blake Student Center is home to a snack bar, bookstore, lounge, and student activity space. The Time Out Cafe is the place to grab coffee with friends.
Residential Life
And our dorms really do feel like home (comfy couches, TV lounges, kitchens, outdoor spaces). They’re where you study, relax, and find your advisor hanging out after dinner. Your dorm is more than where you’ll sleep — it’s where you’ll dream up great ideas, join in spontaneous fun, and build extraordinary friendships. You’ll be surrounded by new friends from across the country and around the world. You’ll get lots of support there, too: Your advisor will be affiliated with your dorm, which means they spend a lot of time — in some cases, even living there — so they’re readily available. Student Resident Leaders also will be on hand to be a helpful resource and reinforce positive dorm culture.
