The Lawrenceville School is a private, coeducational boarding and day school for grades 9 through 12, located on a 700-acre campus in Lawrenceville, New Jersey. Founded in 1810, it is one of the oldest and most prestigious boarding schools in the United States. Lawrenceville enrolls about 830 students from more than 35 states and 40 countries, with approximately 70% boarding. The average class size is 12 students, and the student-to-teacher ratio is 7:1. Nearly 80% of faculty hold advanced degrees.

Curriculum
Lawrenceville uses the Harkness method of teaching, where students and faculty engage in discussions around an oval table. The school offers more than 200 courses across traditional disciplines as well as electives in areas such as social justice, engineering, computer science, and global studies. Lawrenceville runs on a trimester system, and seniors may propose independent study projects or participate in the Hutchins Scholars program.
Programming
Programming includes a busy and challenging academic schedule, to competitive sports and clubs, to theater rehearsals and lots of community service all available for students to participate in.
Activity/Sports Requirements
Featuring more than 70 teams across 21 interscholastic sports, as well as intramurals and recreational options, Lawrenceville's athletics program is a true extension of the House and Harkenss learning experience. Our three-term sports requirement gives students the chance to participate in a variety of options, developing citizenship and leadership, sportsmanship and fair play, and a passionate pursuit of excellence.
Dress Code
Students are expected to wear “Lawrenceville Dress,” which includes collared shirts, sweaters, blouses, skirts, or slacks during the academic day. Special events such as Chapel or formal dinners require blazers, ties, or business attire. Casual wear such as jeans, sweatshirts, and sneakers is reserved for evenings and weekends.

Students are required to attend evening study hall in their Houses from 8:00–10:00 p.m. Faculty residents supervise and provide support.
Saturday Programming
Lawrenceville has academic classes on Saturday mornings, followed by athletics and extracurricular activities. In addition, weekend programming includes service trips, arts performances, cultural events, and social activities.

Lawrenceville campus Houses are at the center of everyday life. They bring students together, foster community, and promote the type of leadership, inclusion, and cooperation that can reach new heights outside of a classroom. And with faculty members serving as House administrators, Houses become a warm and supportive living environment where discovery and creativity can flourish. No matter if you're a day student or boarder, your assigned House will become the home base for downtime, study, and camaraderie.
